⭐Hot Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce⭐
A few reasons to make this your new favorite condiment:
- Flavor Balance: It’s the perfect combination of sweet + spicy + tangy flavors.
- Ease: It’s a super easy recipe that comes together with only a handful of simple ingredients.
- Versatility: Enjoy as a dip, a dressing, a spread, a marinade, mixed into grain bowls – there’s so much you can do here!
Ingredients:
- Mayonnaise: The fat adds richness which makes for a super creamy sauce. If you’d like an egg free option, you can use a vegan mayo or swap it out with greek yoghurt. Dairy free yoghurt also works!
- Hot Honey (or Regular Honey): Make your own hot honey first or use your favorite store bought brand. If you’re not crazy about spice – just use regular runny honey.
- Dijon Mustard (smooth or whole grain): You can try this using different mustard varieties – just make sure your mustard is gluten free! English mustard is good, but you should keep in mind that it’s much spicier which may or may not be ideal depending on whether or not you want to make it hot. Yellow mustard is another option, but it is much tangier and more mild than both Dijon and English.
- Lemon Juice: The acid balances out the other sweet and spicy flavors. Try it with vinegar if needed. I recommend apple cider vinegar, sherry vinegar and red wine vinegar if you can. White wine vinegar works too!
- Cayenne (Optional): For a little extra heat, add a little bit of cayenne. You can absolutely leave it out if you’d prefer.
What to Serve with Spicy Honey Mustard
A few ways to enjoy this delicious honey mustard:
- Salad Dressing: Use in place of the lemon dressing in this Spiced Chickpea Kale Salad or Quinoa Apple Salad With Crispy Shallots. You can also whisk in 1-2 tablespoons into a basic vinaigrette.
- Dip or Condiment: This honey mustard dressing is great with chicken tenders, french fries, sweet potato fries, pretzels or fresh vegetables like carrots sticks.
- Meat or Fish: Brush over chicken breasts, pork chops or salmon fillets, then bake or sauté to cook.
- Roasted Veggies: Drizzle this creamy honey mustard sauce over the top or serve on the side. It’s great mixed into roasted brussels sprouts, broccoli and a variety of roasted vegetables.
